SHORT

Caravaggio’s Cupid is a narrative short film written and directed by Jay Harris, co-founder and Creative Director of Ation Studio, created in response to a brief from the Catalyst Institute for Creative Arts and Technology to communicate something true about the human experience. The film explores the turbulence of adolescent love, lust and individuality through an intimate queer lens, following Giulio - a shy and introverted young man searching for his first meaningful relationship after a series of empty encounters. Set within Berlin’s Gemäldegalerie, opposite Caravaggio’s Amor Vincit Omnia (Love Conquers All), an innocent glance between Giulio and a mysterious spectator evolves into a subtle game of curiosity and desire. Written with the intimacy of a diary and performed with naturalistic realism, the film captures the fragile, complicated process of discovering intimacy, identity and love as a young queer man in the twenty-first century.
